In brilliant news, a couple of weeks ago, our very own Healesville Lions Club installed solar on their two buildings – a 6 kW system on the Op Shop and another 6 kW system on the Community Hall. This was made possible via our Community Energy Revolving Fund, where Healesville CoRE pays for the installation, and the community group pays off the interest-free loan using the savings on their power bills. Once the loan is repaid, they own the system and get to enjoy a future without soaring electricity bills. Affordable solar electricity is the future.
In 2024, Yarra Valley FM Radio installed solar panels and a battery using our Revolving Fund. They’re on the same site as the Lions Club, and once they saw their cheaper power bills, they wanted in on the action! The main advantage of our Revolving Fund is that it involves no up-front costs for the community group, which is often what prevents organisations from being able to invest in solar.
