Position Overview:

HCoRE is seeking a dynamic and community-minded individual to join our team as a Volunteer Communications Manager. This pivotal role involves overseeing our communication strategies, both internal and external, to raise awareness of our initiatives and engage with our community effectively. Previous experience in this kind of role is not required, as the role will be built and developed by the successful candidate!

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Content Creation:
    • Create engaging content for various platforms, including social media, newsletters, press releases, and the HCoRE website.
    • Curate and share relevant news, articles, and updates related to renewable energy and sustainability.
  2. Social Media Management:
    • Manage HCoRE’s social media profiles, including content scheduling, engagement with followers, and tracking performance.
    • Monitor trends and incorporate them into our social media strategy.
  3. Public Relations:
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with local media outlets, and community partners to promote HCoRE’s initiatives.
    • Draft and distribute press releases and media pitches as needed.
  4. Community Engagement:
    • Engage with the HCoRE community through various communication channels, addressing inquiries and fostering a sense of belonging.
    • Develop and implement feedback mechanisms to gather insights from our members and supporters.

6. Desirable Skills:

  • Strong community-mindedness and a passion for renewable energy and sustainability.
  • Ability to dedicate approximately two hours per week to fulfil the responsibilities of this volunteer position.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and digital marketing tools.
  • Creative thinking and the ability to generate compelling content.
  • Public relations or communications experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Familiarity with UK English and spelling conventions.
