Worried about the climate and cost of living crisis?
Healesville Community Renewable Energy invites you to hear from three speakers, who can help you prepare for switching to an all-electric home.
• Kate Minter, Managing Director of Rewiring Australia, will explain why we all need to take action now.
• Tim Forcey, from My Efficient Electric Home, will show you what you can do.
• Sustainability Department, from Yarra Ranges Council, will present how with ‘Your Go Electric Plan’.
Tim Forcey, engineer, energy expert and author, the legend who started the My Energy Efficient Electric Home (MEEH) Facebook group in 2015, which now has a following of over 120,000 members and is a leading database of readily searchable information about improving the comfort and energy performance of Australian homes. MEEH is now also a book – a synthesis of the collective wisdom of those much-read comments threads interwoven with Tim’s expertise and passion for helping others reduce their carbon footprint. My Efficient Electric Home Handbook: How to slash your bills, protect your health & save the planet will be on sale at this event.
Rewiring Australia is on a mission to electrify everything as this is the fastest way to meet our climate goals, while addressing the cost of living crisis facing households today.
The non-profit research and advocacy organisation is calling for the big changes needed to do this at scale, while also working with communities and individuals to accelerate electrification on the ground. This work is helping families and communities save money on their power bills, create healthier homes and reduce their carbon emissions.
We would love to have secured Rewiring Australia co-founder, author, inventor and entrepreneur, Dr Saul Griffith to come to Healesville but he is a busy man! Instead we are delighted to have Managing Director, Kate Minter, who will join us remotely to discuss what ‘electrifying everything’ involves, why it matters and how we can all take steps to make the transition to a clean electric future a reality.
Kate is a social researcher and campaigner. She has worked with non-profits and membership based organisations leading projects on pressing social issues including women’s safety, the rights of migrant and gig-economy workers. She has degrees in social research and applied statistics. At Rewiring Australia, Kate works across the organisation’s advocacy, community and research work, helping bring our big vision to electrify everything to life. In her work at Rewiring Australia, Kate is driven by how we bring all households and communities on the electrification journey and make sure access to the benefits of renewable energy are accessible to all.
There will be time for questions at the end.
Light refreshments will be provided.
